Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds! Posting: The first Wednesday of every month is officially Insecure Writer’s Support Group day. Post your thoughts on your own blog. Talk about your doubts and the fears you have conquered. Discuss your struggles and triumphs. Offer a word of encouragement for others who are struggling. Visit others in the group and connect with your fellow writer - aim for a dozen new people each time - and return comments. This group is all about connecting! Let’s rock the neurotic writing world! Our Twitter handle is @TheIWSG and hashtag is #IWSG.
The awesome co-hosts for the January 3 posting of the IWSG are Joylene Nowell Butler, Olga Godim, Diedre Knight, and Natalie Aguirre!

January 3 question: Do you follow back your readers on BookBub or do you only follow back other authors?
***************
Hello, friends!
Short and sweet today. I'm not feeling very well and have been trying to catch up with life after the holidays, and just remembered it was IWSG day!
I don't use Bookbub yet. I will be, once I get some things published this year, but it's something that's on my radar but I haven't even joined as a reader yet. I suppose that I should do that so I can get a feel for the platform itself from both sides.
For me, I guess it will depend on where I'm at in my career and how many people are following me. Over the years I've realized that I don't necessarily have to follow back everyone who follows me on social media. This has become especially true on Bluesky since I started running a writing prompt over there called #WIPSnips where I post a word every day and people share snippets from their writing that include that word. Lots of people have followed me because I host something, but I haven't necessarily followed them back, unless I've interacted with them in some way.
I do like to follow people back who interact with me and make meaningful connections, and I love -- as a reader -- being able to connect with an author whose writing I enjoy. So I think it will really depend on the situation and the connection. I will likely follow readers back as long as the interaction doesn't overstep any boundaries that make me uncomfortable.
Thanks for stopping by and let me know in the comments what you think about that and any goals you have for the new year! I'll be doing my big goal post eventually.
Looking forward to traversing the blog hop this month.
